Social Justice and Outreach
Assistance to Bereaved Families
The Women's Club provides a funeral luncheon in the home for families who have just experienced
the loss of a loved one. If you would like to share in this ministry by providing food occasionally
or by helping to set up the luncheon.

CHO (Committee to Help Others)
The Women's Club assists this local group in attempting
to make life a little easier for those in need. During the month of October, the parish participates
in a food drive to provide holiday meals for those in need. Due to the harsh economic times, food is collected
once a month at the monthly Donut Social. The Women’s Club also provides volunteers to work at the
CHO Clothes Closet and to drive the sick and elderly to their medical appointments.

Christ House
The Women's Club has a team of volunteers who provide dinner once a
month to the population of Christ House homeless shelter and to the needy community residents in Alexandria, Va.

Counseling
Patricia M. Fahey, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker, available to parishioners for pastoral, family and individual counseling at the parish.

Men's Club
The objectives of the Our Lady of Good Counsel Men's Club (OLGC MC) are: the promotion of fellowship among men within the parish according to approved practices of the Catholic Church; an increased sense of Christian stewardship exemplified through projects within the parish, with other parishes, and with community; assisting our pastor with his parish and community responsibilities; and providing opportunities for amiable social relations among the members of the club, their families, and friends. |
Our Daily Bread
This interfaith organization has as its ministry to help ease the plight of homeless and other needy
families in Fairfax. A parish-wide food drive run by The Women's Club
is held during the month of June. Volunteers assist with the collection, sorting, bagging, and delivery of
groceries.

Pro-Life Legislative Action Committee
The Pro Life Committee of The Women's Club is responsible for parish activities such as The National March for Life, The Life Chain, reviewing and recommending current prolife literature to the parish, monitoring legislation and other area events that effect our parish and community.

Ministry to the Sick and Homebound
Ministers keep the sick and home bound connected to the parish community through regular visits, the sacrament of Holy Eucharist and with spiritual support and care. They make nursing home, hospital, and home visits.

Social Justice
Patricia Fahey is the resource for committees, staff or parishioners dealing with social justice issues.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul
This group of dedicated people works with other charitable groups in the area to assist needy individuals in a variety of ways from financial help in
paying overdue utility bills, assistance in job placement, guidance in
getting longer term assistance from community sources, to just offering a
sympathetic ear.

SOME (So Others May Eat)
SOME, Inc. provides direct services to help the poor and destitute of Washington, D.C. The Women's Club's contribution
is to provide food for one breakfast a month for 300 to 500 people. More volunteers are needed to transport
the donated food from Vienna to D.C. If you could donate a Saturday morning just a few times a year,
please email us.

Spanish Ministries
Help is available to any Spanish speaking parishioners who may need assistance in communicating more fully with those offering services in the parish.

Welcoming Committee
The Women's Club's Welcoming Committee tries to instill a sense of
belonging and a warm welcome by hosting a coffee for new parishioners three times a year. Volunteers are
needed to help with the coffee or to assist in making the phone calls that personally invite new parishioners
to this welcoming event.

Women of O.L.G.C.
In addition to the Social Outreach listed above The Women's Club
provides a means for the women of the Parish to be active in their faith,
to support the pastor and to raise funds for the Parish and various charities. It also promotes social and
spiritual gatherings such as a spaghetti supper, a yearly weekend retreat, and Communion Breakfast.
The club meets bi-monthly five times a year. The meetings include a speaker or presentation and refreshments.
